In March 2006, members of the International Year of Microcredit
committee met and decided to create the Australian Microfinance Network,
now known as the Australian Financial Inclusion Network.
The United Nations General Assembly declared 2005 the International
Year of Microcredit to enhance recognition of its role in the
eradication of poverty.
Our members span the financial, community finance, international development, governement, community and academic sectors.
A recommended starting point for getting involved is to become aware
of the organisations running financial inclusion programs in your area,
and investigating opportunities to assist in their delivery.
